![]() Point 7 is a Point of Curvature and point 10 is the Point of Tangency. Lines 1-4 and 2-8 are existing lot lines. Then I simply picked random points 4, 7, 8 and 10. To create Figure 1, I used the point icon (the first button from the left next to Undo and Redo) to enter 5000,5000 for point one and 5005,5200 for point two. A small window in the upper right allows users to see what the finished product will look like at all times. The icons on the power bar below the menu bar are the common functions users employ to create plats. Each item on the pull-down menu is the same: Create, Edit, Delete and Defaults. Each pull-down menu is an object such as point, line arc, text and so forth. Unlike the giant CAD programs, which take a long time to draft small jobs, SMI plot makes good its promise of "The Ten Minute Plot." How does it do it? Figure 1 shows a plat I drew in SMI plot. ![]() It takes a lot of drudgery out of those little surveys that are the bread and butter of many small survey firms. I believe it will be even more popular than SMI's data collection module for the HP 48 GX. The average surveyor is going to love this package. ![]()
